New Time and Meeting Format for Thistle Club Men

Thistle Club Meets on the second Sunday of each month at 8:29 a.m. A light breakfast, usually of coffee, juice, milk and donuts or bagels will be included. Members are taking turns bringing the breakfast items, selecting a topic and facilitating the discussion (with Rev. Hanna’s assistance). We are now testing the new Sunday morning time and meeting format based upon feedback from members and potential members. We hope this is more suitable for those who could not attend Saturday mornings. The open discussion with biblical perspective enhances Calvary’s community of faith. The next Thistle Club meeting is Sunday, November 9, 2008 at 8:29 a.m. in the Dining Room. We hope to see you there!

Fall Women’s Bible Study

The fall women’s bible study is Modern Parables – Living in the Kingdom of God. This is a film-based Bible study on Jesus’ parables. Explore what the parables mean in today’s world through a combination of outstanding cinema and solid biblical theology. Discuss and learn how we love our neighbors, use our money, persist in prayer, as well as other important topics of Christ’s teachings. The study continues on Mondays from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the Naomi Room and through November. Bring a lunch if you wish and nibbles are usually available. We love to eat and greet!! Come early to chat. The cost of the book is $10 to be paid in the church office. Sign up in either of the Sanctuary vestibules or by calling the office at 724-463-9197.

Funeral and Memorial Service Planning Brochure

Prayer Quilt Ministry at Calvary

The comforters/lap quilts/squares created are a statement of faith, and a testimony to our belief in God and in the power of prayer. As each stitch is made and each knot is tied, prayer is symbolically tied into the quilt and then given to someone in need of the healing power of prayer. If you would like to learn more about this support ministry and how you can be a part of it, pick up an informational sheet in the Chalice Room and come join us each Tuesday in the 2nd floor classroom next to the Nursery from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or call Marcia Buriok at 724-463-3291.

We Care!

If you have a loved one or know of someone who is ill or has difficulty getting out and about, please notify any Deacon. The Deacons have a concern that Calvary loved ones may be overlooked due to the new privacy laws and/or the fact that some person in need may not have family or neighbors to notify us. Therefore, we need your help identifying and locating those who may need our care. Please help the Deacons help the community.

Space for Parking on Sunday

Dr. Coppolo has given permission for the use of his parking lot on Sundays. The lot is located off School Street, just before the intersection with Seventh Street. Parking space is also available in the lot on Seventh Street where it intersects with Washington Street.
