Worship

Sabbath is a time to rest and revive, to put aside the week's cares and rediscover our connections to God and to each other. Worship together is central to our life as a congregation. It helps us to understand God's Word and to relate what we believe, with how we live.

Worship engages a person's mind, heart, eyes and ears. We use music, drama, dance, and the visual arts to enhance worship, explore spirituality, express faith, and interpret God's Word year round, and especially during the festivals of the church year -- Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost.

From September through May, we worship at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.  From June through August, the congregation worships together at 10:00 a.m. each Sunday.

Morning Worship at 11:00 a.m. features a traditional order of service. Music is led by the Chancel Choir and accompanied by our Mollar organ -- often with oboe, flute, string, brass or percussion instruments. We sing hymns that are both traditional and new, American and from all parts of the world.

Morning Worship also includes "Time for Young Disciples," a special message for children. For infants and children under four years of age, nursery care is available during the worship hour. In the two entry hallways outside the sanctuary, children who attend the service will find activity packets to help them pass the time during quiet parts of worship.

After this service, everyone is invited to Coffee Hour in the Chalice Room next to the sanctuary, for light refreshments and friendly conversation.  Every month we have a Mission of the Month lunch to raise funds for special mission projects.

Communion is celebrated about once a month. Check this site's Communion Schedule for the days on which communion is served.

In addition to special services celebrating the church festivals, in November we celebrate the Feast of Saint Andrew the Apostle, symbolizing our Presbyterian origins in the Kirk of Scotland and the Scottish Reformation. The Saint Andrew's Day celebration features a splendid processional of clan representatives in tartans, the music of the bagpipe and organ, historic Kirk of Scotland liturgy, and a high tea after the service.

We invite you to find the joy of worship and the healing of sabbath with us.
