"Bella Notte" Spaghetti Dinner Fund Raiser November 22, 2008
The Christian Education and Community Assistance and Mission Departments will be organizing an Italian spaghetti dinner night to raise money for our youth to attend a mission trip in the summer of 2009. This dinner will be open to the Indiana Community. Can you help us? If you like to cook pasta, stir sauce, fill Parmesan jars, or clear red checkered table cloths, please contact Brenda Hanna. There will be many ways you can be helpful. As a church, we look forward to opening the doors of Calvary with hospitality to the people of Indiana and at the same time, help our young people prepare to serve others in need.
October Youth Retreat News
In October, the Calvary Youth went on a retreat to Westminster Highlands in Emlenton, PA. It was a beautiful, warm, autumn weekend, filled with fun and fellowship, cooking, campfires and s’mores, a low ropes course, and meaningful devotions and worship. While on the retreat we took some time to look at Daniel, chapters 2-3 and discussed how we can trust in God and demonstrate risk-taking faith in our everyday lives. The youth also participated in a low ropes course led by facilitators from Westminster Highlands. They did a great job taking risks and working as a team to complete the ropes course. They amazed me with their willingness to try everything and their determination not to give up. I also want to thank Mr. Rob Varner and Mrs. Amy Roland for their leadership. Without them this trip would not have been possible. ~ Ginny
"I really liked the effort of all the young people." said Mr. Varner.
"I liked being around the campfire and everything we did Saturday night." said Mrs. Roland.
"I liked the ropes course!" shared Valerie.
"Some of my favorite activities were the intense games of Uno, Attack and Apples to Apples. I enjoyed them because everyone participated and had fun". Laura.
"I liked the ropes course and that I had my own room." Austin.
"The ropes course was fun even though it was hard." Samantha.
